From June 7–10, the Gentherm team was on the ground at NeoCon, connecting with designers, manufacturers and innovators shaping the future of commercial furniture and interior environments.

At our booth, we focused on telling a cohesive story, connecting our automotive heritage to our growing capabilities in human research and our expansion into office, healthcare and beyond. By walking visitors through that journey, we were able to show not just what we do, but how our capabilities come together to support comfort in a more meaningful way.

As one team member noted, “our suite of comfort and wellness solutions told a cohesive story—guiding visitors from our automotive roots into our human research capabilities and broader applications in workspace and medical environments.”

This narrative resonated with attendees, particularly as expectations around workplace performance and well-being continue to evolve.

From Features to Physiology

A notable takeaway from this year’s show was the growing appreciation for solutions rooted in scientific understanding of the human body. While many products at NeoCon emphasized comfort features, we found that our expertise in physiology, human factors and biomedical engineering resonated in a different way.

Based on conversations at the booth, many visitors were surprised by the depth of our scientific expertise and our understanding of how the body responds to thermal and massage inputs. This signals an important industry shift: moving from furniture that simply feels good to solutions designed to support human performance, recovery and well-being.

Innovation That Performs Beneath the Surface

Our approach brings multiple systems together to create a more active, personalized seating experience, including:

  • Advanced heating for precise, consistent warmth
  • Active cooling to help regulate temperature, reduce fatigue and alleviate hot flashes
  • Air-based massage and lumber capabilities to support recovery and help address back discomfort

Rather than treating these as standalone features, we design them to work as a cohesive system. With WellSense™, we bring together targeted thermal and massage technologies to create a more responsive, personalized seating experience that supports the user throughout the day.

Our pneumatic massage technologies sparked curiosity and conversation. Many visitors were surprised to learn that the same air-based systems can be applied across both relaxation-focused recliners and more clinical seating environments, reinforcing how a single innovation can scale across use cases without sacrificing performance.

At the same time, thermal management continues to be a key differentiator. By embedding heating and cooling directly into the seating surface, we can help support:

  • Focus and productivity
  • Reduced thermal discomfort and fatigue
  • User satisfaction throughout the day

Together, these technologies reflect a broader shift from passive to active comfort systems built into the furniture itself.

Looking Ahead

If there’s one takeaway from NeoCon, it’s that the future of furniture will be defined by how effectively it supports people, not just in moments of use, but over time.

At Gentherm, we’re focused on leading that evolution by combining deep expertise in human physiology with proven thermal and pneumatic technologies. The result is a new category of solutions designed not just for comfort, but for wellness, performance and measurable impact.
