ThermAffyx
The latest innovation in robotic-assisted surgery is here.

ThermAffyx™ Patient Safety System is the first-of-its-kind surgical solution that combines active warming with securement.

Patient Warming

Active Warming

Helps keep patients normothermic where other solutions can't, especially in robotics cases with limited access.

Patient Securement

Helps support pressure injury prevention, even with integrated warming.

Introducing the ThermAffyx™ Patient Safety System

ThermAffyx™ is a patented active warming and securement system for surgical procedures in Trendelenburg.
Our 3-in-1 solution combines anti-slip foam with a proprietary, carbon fiber heating element to help maintain normothermia, prevent unintended patient movement and provide pressure reduction.

Designed for the Realities of the OR

Inadvertent perioperative hypothermia remains a persistent challenge, even in controlled environments. At the same time, positioning the patient for safety, particularly securement in Trendelenburg, is another critical responsibility for OR teams.

Until now, patient warming and patient securement have been treated as separate problems with separate solutions.

The ThermaAffyx™ System consists of three main components: a disposable Securement Pad, a Controller and an Extension Cable to connect them together. The Pad Kit also comes with an optional body strap and draw/lift sheet.

Addressing the Unique Challenges of Robotic Surgery

Laparoscopic and robot-assisted procedures offer many benefits compared with open surgery. However, these surgical methods introduce three patient safety risks:

  • Inadvertent Perioperative Hypothermia due to limited access for traditional warming.
  • Unintended Patient Movement due to patient positioning in Trendelenburg.
  • Pressure Injuries due to patient positioning.

Did you Know? 28.1% of robotic-assisted surgery patients arriving in the PACU are hypothermic despite warming efforts due to factors such as limited warming surface area available.¹

Additional factors include:

  • Longer surgical durations²
  • Unwarmed surgical gases³–⁸
  • Increased exposure & limited warming surface⁴˒⁹–¹¹

Why Normothermia Matters:

  • Research shows that even mild perioperative hypothermia can increase the patient’s risk for significant negative outcomes including but limited to surgical site infections, increased length of hospital stay, pain and shivering and mortality risks.12-15
  • Maintaining normothermia is not just an AORN guideline. It’s a critical factor in improving patient outcomes.
A 3-in-1 Solution

Active Underbody Warming:

Helps keep patients normothermic where other solutions can’t, especially in robotics cases with limited access
  • Pressure-Activated Heat Transfer up to 40°C. Providing the maximum warmth to the patient as soon as they are transferred to the underbody Pad.
  • Fast, Easy to Use. With 3 pre-set temperature options that can rise to set temperature in under 4 minutes.
  • Quiet with No Air Movement**. Device operates silently and will not heat the surgical team or warm the room.

Patient Securement:

You don’t have to sacrifice securement to add warming.
  • Anti-Slip Foam with a high coefficient of friction helps prevent patients from sliding when in Trendelenburg
  • Strong, disposable and designed to handle surgical fluids without affecting the heating element or the strength of the foam.

Pressure Reduction:

Helps support pressure injury prevention, even with integrated warming.
  • Reduced pressure vs no pad (~58%* reduction lower back).
  • Designed to reduce peak pressure and increase contact area.
